Rules & development / How to write good feedback
« on: March 07, 2013, 07:39:13 am  »
How to write good feedback in the discussion for upcoming rules.

I wish to welcome everyone that please to participate in www.d3cl.com and contribute to unite player's that enjoy pvp and wish to
enchance their exeperience and do the best form for possible competative pvp diablo 3 has to offer.

We really do appreciate everyone's opinions and feedback.

Allright, lets establish a how to create a valuable post in the rules discussion.

First off, please assume that player's cross regions with the same quality and build of gear and pvp dedication have a smilar skill level.

Feedback for rules is NOT a competition for your own class or a place to utter opinions without anything to show for etc this belongs within other subforums.

D3CL Staff read everthing that is posted and evaluates it thereafter but will not always consider it legitimate inteligence and might choose not to respond.

When you want to write feedback for or against specific rules and classes please try to contain a minimum ammount of data in your post:

1. Stats for both classes.

DPS
Resist
Vitality
Armor
Resource regeneration or any other build directed customization your build contains as well as abilities and runes used during the match.

2. State of the problem.

3. Overview of what you did try to counter optional video or screenshot.

4. The outcome of the match.

5. Best solutions you found so far towards the issue.

6. Last and most important short and direct summary that explains your point of view towards the issue.

Example of a good summary :

Quote
Barbarian versus Monk;
When both of the classes focus on dps given:

Wrath Of the Berserker with insanity combined with ruthless and weapon master charge 1 shot any monk regardless of ehp.

Seven sided strike or any bell from the monk will also 1 shot any barb.

It basically comes down to who clicks who first and is lucky enough to dodge or not.

However monk's passive near death experience managed to give monk a clear advantage creating a 2 shot out of himself versus the barb that would still die in 1 hit.

We found the duels to be more joyfull and a competative surrounding while plaing without wotb and near death experience.

Does anyone else have any experience the same encounter or is it just us?

Example of a bad summary :

Quote
All monks 1 shot me and they are so op, u want to ban wotb omfg you eu guys are crazy duel is seriz fine as it is if not to hard.
Even if i perform medium range in my server, but if i was you server and had that setup with this item that i never tried i sersoulsy win you pretty east#1 supersstar.
KK THX NP .  I FIXED IT. BYE

In the future we will moderate the postings along those lines.

Thank you[/color]

Rules & development / Re: Ruleversion 1.2

I'd like to point out that we work with the following slogan:

"We base these rules on the best versus best situation"

If you are undergeared you have something to work on: if you are underskilled, you have something to work on.. but reversing it and making mediocre rules will not suffice for high quality duels.

Rules & development / Ruleversion 1.2
« on: March 04, 2013, 17:42:14 pm  »
Hey guys, we present you in this topic the ruleversion 1.2 for the coming rule season.
First of all I'd like to thank the ruledevelopers (Darke, Jointit, Keen, Captain, Kaio, Rogh and Alexwitt) for their input and testing. We have also read through the public discussion and taken some ideas/points from there.

These rules you read here are a draft. They aren't final yet. I will make them final on 12 march. We will take input to edit the final rules up until 11 march 23.59.

Some points which are yet under discussion are:
- Haunt and the relative strenght of WD; we have implemented some rules regarding WD but we aren't completely sure yet. Additional testing will be done so we can take these findings for the final 1.2 version.
- Taking up the rules regarding walkovers / some sort of description - explanation of the procedure into ruleversion 1.2
- DH vs Wizard duel is still up for revision aswell.

What else? We would like to see your (constructive) feedback (this means explanations) on the rules. We haven't banned any items and try to get balance by not allowing certain skills in certain match ups. You probably see a huge buff to the Wizard class. We felt this was needed.

Here we go:

Quote
The first and foremost goal we try to achieve is having a user-friendly environment in which you have good and quality duels with like minded people. Other goals are having fun and exploiting the competitive aspect of the game. To ensure this we expect every participant to behave properly and apply the following duelling rules during D3CL duels.

If a problem (a disagreement over the rules, someone entering town without accepting the round loss) occurs we expect you to work it out together. If that doesn’t work out you can request an official D3CL judge. Please notice that the decision a judge makes is leading and you have to accept it. Judges cannot judge themselves.

General Rules:

-   Duels are held in the “Scorched Chapel” area accessed via an act one game.
-   Duels are held in “Inferno” modus.
-   The duel only starts when both sides have said go.
-   The small island inside the scorched chapel area is forbidden ground. Actively using this island will result in loss of rounds and/or the complete match.
-   You cannot enter town or leave the game during a round, if that happens the person who enters town or leaves the game looses the round.
-   We expect the duels to be active combat. Repeatingly avoiding the duel will result in a loss.

-   Duels are played with best of 9.
-   Round(s) resulting in a draw count as +1 round for both sides. (f.e. 2-3 become 3-4). If draws put you past 9 rounds you continue until there is a winner (it will count as 5-4 win).
-   You must play your duels using the character you signed up with for the League or Tournament.

Class specific rules:

Barbarian
-   In a mirror match Barbarians cannot use a shield.
-   The Barbarian cannot use the skill “Wrath of the Berserker” versus the Wizard, Monk and Witch-Doctor.
-   In duels versus the “Demon Hunter” and “Witch Doctor” the passive skill “Inspiring presence” is not allowed
-   In duels versus the “Wizard” the rune “Marathon” from the skill “Sprint” is not allowed.
-   In duels versus the “Wizard” the Barbarian can choose one, but not more of the following skills: “Ground Stomp”, “Leap” with rune “Death from Above”, “Charge” with rune “Bull Rush”, “Bash” with rune “Clobber” or “Weapon Throw” with rune “Throwing Hammer”.

Demon Hunter
-   The Demon Hunter is not allowed to play the “bunker – style”. This style is defined by laying “Turrets and/or “Spike Traps” and not coming out from the range of these traps.
-   In duels versus the “Wizard” the skill “Companion” with the rune “Boar” is not allowed.
-   In duels versus the “Wizard” the skill “Preparation” with rune “Battle Scars” is not allowed.

Monk
-   In duels versus the “Wizard” the skill “Cyclone Strike” is not allowed.
-   In duels versus the “Wizard” the rune “Flying Side Kick” from the skill “Dashing Strike” is not allowed.
-   In duels versus the “Barbarian” the Monk can use either the active skill “Serenity” or the passive skill “Near Death Experience” but not both.

Witch Doctor
-   The Witch Doctor must choose either “Hex” or “Horrify” but not both.
-   The Witch Doctor is only allowed to wield a shield in mirror matches.
-   The Witch Doctor can use either “Spirit Walk” or “Spirit Vessel” but not both.
-   In duels versus the “Barbarian” the skill “Hex” is not allowed.
-   In duels versus the “Demon Hunter” the Witch Doctor is not allowed to use “Summon Zombie Dogs” or “Gargantuan”.
-   In duels versus the “Wizard” the skill “Spirit Walk” is not allowed.
-   In duels versus the “Wizard” the Witch Doctor is not allowed to use “Spirit Walk”, “Summon Zombie Dogs” or “Gargantuan”.

is it right, that I cant rejoin game between rounds for reset cd? Or I have to wait for this.. between round ofc.

To clear it up: you can rejoin games between rounds - just like it is stated in the rules.
In a particular game between the user Pino and Rex were duelling with alot of quarreling: I forbade them this because they were haggling around and being ugly so I kept them ingame. Maybe Pino figured it out wrong.

Rules & development / How does rule development work?
« on: February 21, 2013, 22:07:22 pm  »
Hey guys, we have decided on the way to create and organise our rules.
We have made a special team of dedicated people who are either top players in their class and have much experience in the field of rule making OR a mix of both. We have chosen for this setup to have a limited group of people working on it instead of a whole board with input. This means they will representative the classes and make sure a balance is reached for the rules for season 2 and onwards.

What can you do? Bring forward your ideas and feedback about duel matters inside this board - the rule developers will react/respond to the issues and even test them out if promising.

no1 decided, just every1 made games on inferno - coz it was the most common way of making them on pvm, so why not pvp ? hmm

Richi, this kinda covers the process - I understand DH is having a harder time but the coin may turn the other way aswell: maybe leech will give DH the edge.. like I said earlier: This season is our baseline, from here will we start developing the rules for the coming seasons. We see that WD has a strong advantage against all classes and the next season will see a change to that. How and what? Unknown yet, but you will be able to see the discussion once it start here in this board. We are currently preparing and smoothing out which angle we, as staff, will take on this.

It is working, it works same as in pve ... Yes we do.

You decided to run league in inferno difficulty without further testing? Weakens DH's who play with shadowpower (yes I tested it).

Okay, that may well be possible and the first season will show if and how DH's are competing against the other chars. Please be aware of the unique situation we are in: everything is new and everything is open for discussion but we have to start somewhere. We will go from here and see how the balance is during and after season 1 to come up with improvements and changes for season 2.

News / Announcement: D3CL first season of the league
« on: February 13, 2013, 19:46:23 pm  »
D3CL crew is pleased to invite all Diablo 3 players to the first official 1v1 PvP League.
The first season starts on Friday 21:00 CET and it will last until 31st March, end of day. We are not setting any specific duels rules (apart from general ones) because we think that it is to early to do so. The season results will show how the actual class balance looks like. In our test PTR league, where we had more than 60 participants, we were unable to decide that any limitations are needed at this stage. We hope that players are going to be creative in choosing the right item and skill set which with proper strategy can bring success to every class.

Sign ups are already enabled. The only prerequisite is the confirmed Battletag in our systems, once you do that the next step is to go to the League section, choose your character class and click “join”.
Duels are played on the Infero difficulty levels, winner is concluded after 5 rouns won (this means best of 9 - first to reach 5-x). To challenge an opponent you need to click “challenge” button next to the player battletag in main League Ranking list. We are providing message communication in the screen regarding certain challenge, which should help players to arrange the duel. In case of the unplayed challenges the message log would be an important part for judges. Every challenge should be played within 3 days, after that judge will intervene. The judge can decide whether the fight should be played immediately or to grant walkover for one of the parties.

Due to the international character of our league I would like to remind you that English is the effective language. If you are not sure whether opponent will understand your native language, use English. In case of any further question please direct them at our Forums.

Have fun,
The crew of D3CL

News / Re: Diablo 3 Dueling Re-Named to Brawling
« on: February 11, 2013, 08:49:33 am  »
This change will be reflected in the patch notes, as well as in all related game text fields once 1.0.7 ships. We’ve no further changes planned for brawling at this time, but we’re excited to see what kind of havoc players will wreak in the Scorched Chapel once the patch is released.

no changes to the content of duelling.
